Umesh Yadav has undoubtedly been one of the main architects of India's lengthy yet successful home season, which saw them defeat likes of New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia. The pacer didn't take as many wickets as Ravichandran Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja, but his immaculate line, length and discipline helped the hosts get breakthroughs at crucial junctures and made the job of the spinners easier.

When the whole nation was busy praising Jadeja, Rahane, KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara, cricketer-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri paid a hilarious tribute to Umesh, referring him as the 'strongman' of Indian cricket while taking a brutal dig at the visitors.

"Strongman kal ka spell dekh ke maza aa gaya. Kangaroos ko aise kudate hue kabhi nahi dekha. Band baja di @y_umesh. Shabaash #INDvAUS," tweeted Shastri. (It was a treat to witness strongman's spell. Never seens Kangaroos struggle like this)

Umesh took five wickets in the match which included the prize scalps of Matt Renshaw (twice), David Warner and Shaun Marsh. India needed just 87 runs to wrap up the fourth Test on Day 4 in Dharamsala. Rahul and Rahane stitched an unbeaten 60-run-partnership to steer India to an eight-wicket win. The hosts thus reclaimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by clinching the series 2-1.
