The third Twenty20 international between India and South Africa was scheduled to begin at Eden Gardens, Kolkata at 7 pm on Thursday. However, due to persistent rain earlier in the day, the covers could not be taken off in time and the match has been delayed.
Needless to say, Kolkatans are furious. They have turned to Twitter to express their hurt and anguish at the situation.
Here's an opening salvo:
Eden Gardens is Mecca of Indian Cricket but we cannot ready a wet outfield even though no rain for last 4 hours and it was just normal rain.

Vivianna Durao spent money on tickets it seems:
Just my luck, first game at Eden Gardens and it rains #indvsa

Modi bhakts are everywhere. EVERYWHERE.
In a massive blow to Modi, match at Eden Gardens is delayed. Maybe foreign networks can enlighten how this puts India's secularism in danger

Abhishek Daga holds a very popular opinion:
Eden Gardens has become pathetic. It's barely rained , that too before 4 pm.. and they are not yet in a position to start the match @BCCI

Kaushik is funny:
Meanwhile in Calcutta/Kolkata, the legend that is the drainage system of Eden Gardens gets top billing yet again. #INDvSA

Utkarsh seeks a mystical explanation for the misery:
Well after the cuttack incident , seems that nature is unhappy too with the cricket fans and Eden Gardens is paying for that.

Why? Just WHY?
Eden Gardens why you letting us down? Where was rain after 1 pm? Where?

Ayan is more pragmatic and raises an important concern.
Eden Gardens will host the @ICC World T20 finals in 6 mths and inspite of no rain thr is no play for 2.5hrs! Wl manohar snd notice to cab?

Ah, some bad jokes are good.
Eden Gardens is having the after effects of Water bottles thrown in Cuttack. #INDvSA

Yash Shinde may be right.
Mumbai's streets clear water faster than at the Eden Gardens.. ?? #IndvsSA #Mumbai #Kolkata

The match seems on course to be rained out. At best we will see a game where each side plays under 10 overs. A damp squib, indeed. But in Kolkata, this is an outrage. Worse, India have already lost the series. Such a depressing day, right?
