India agonisingly fell short by six runs while chasing 243 against New Zealand in the 2nd ODI at Feroz Shah Kotla on Thursday. However, all-rounder Hardik Pandya won the hearts of the fans by bringing his team on the threshold of victory, scoring 36 runs in the process.
At a time when India were 183 for eight, Pandya got together with pacer Umesh Yadav to stitch a 49-run partnership and brightened India's hopes of an unlikely victory, but miscued a shot in the 49th over with his personal score reading 36.
Twitterati were upset with India's first loss of the series but reserved high praise for the Baroda lad. Here are the best tweets:
India might not win this. But until that last shot Pandya's calm gave hope. Dhoni should teach him to take it to the last over. #IndvNZ
