India to face Australia in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup final today

Apart from this, New Zealand, who have been dethroned as champions, will face Malaysia in a Bronze medal clash, while Pakistan will face Canada for fifth place.

India will take on Australia in the final of Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament at Ipoh in Malaysia on Saturday as India stormed into the final yesterday evening beating Malaysia 6-1.

India stamped their authority on the hosts to finish ahead of New Zealand in the standings in a must-win last round-robin league fixture. Two other matches will also be played out on Saturday.

Defending champions New Zealand will clash with hosts Malaysia for the Bronze medal, while Pakistan will face Canada for the fifth position.

In the tournament, Australia finished with the maximum 18 points from six outings, followed by India with 12 points and New Zealand with 11 points. Australia have won this title a record eight times and India claimed the honours five times.
