India's 1983 World Cup hero Mohinder Amarnath feels that Indians shouldn't shuffle too much with Virat Kohli's batting order and sticking with his No 3 position in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup, starting February 14.

"A man in-form should bat in higher order. Virat is in form now. He is aggressive and ready to take the challenge. He should bat at number three position," Amarnath said.

Commenting on India's chances of winning the World Cup this time, Amarnath said,"For a champion team, it is always a tough job to retain the title. But important thing is have faith on your performance." About fitness problems in Indian team, Amarnath said,"It is definitely better to go with a fully-fit team than a half-fit side. Players, who are not fit should be sent back. I hope all the players in the Indian team get fully fit by the time the tournament starts."

The former chief selector said that it is hard to predict the semi-final line-up. "It is very difficult to predict. Any team can beat any team in the World Cup. He also agreed that Australia, South Africa, India have a good chance while New Zealand will be the dark horse."

Amarnath mentioned that for India key thing would be where and whom you play. He said,"India's bowling strength is in spin bowling. Moreover two new balls would be used in an innings and ball would remain hard. I feel Amit Mishra should have been there in the squad."

Former cricketer Mohinder Amarnath said it was a matter of worry for India ahead of the World Cup that the players have not been able to adapt to the conditions Down Under.

"The problem which the Indians are facing both in batting and bowling is that they have not yet come to terms with the nature of the wicket, although they have been in Australia for over two months now," Amarnath told reporters.

Amarnath, who had bagged the Man-of-the-Match award in both the semi-final and final of India's historic 1983 World Cup win, indicated that the technique of the Indian batmen was found wanting.

"The batsmen are still to judge the bounce of the wicket and trying to play shots, the way they play in the sub-continent where the bounce is low. In Australia, the bounce is higher and the ball comes higher on to the bat, so the batsman will have to make adjustments," he said.

Amarnath also said that India missed out by not selecting leg-spinner Amit Mishra.

"India's strength has always been spin and it certainly will be crucial how they perform. But I think the selectors missed out by not opting for a leg spinner. They should have picked Amit Mishra as leg spin can play a great part on Australian wickets. During the 1985 tour to Australia Laxman Shiva Rama Krishnan played a crucial role," he said.
