Shane Aranha, a young talented footballer has earned the distinction of becoming the first player from Mumbai, to get an opportunity to be trained at BOCA Football Academy in Argentina later this year. The youngster will travel to Argentina to attend a two-week training camp at CABJ (Club Athletico Boca Juniors), which produced great players, like Diego Maradona.

The 12-year-old Shane, a student of St. Mary’s High School, Mazagon, was the most promising amongst the 29 kids that were short-listed after the inaugural edition of The Sports Gurukul organised Football Championship League (FCL) in association with Boca Juniors Football School (BJFSI), in December 2015.

Shane was over the moon after he was picked for the training stint in Argentina. “I am very excited and looking forward to going to Argentina. It is going to be one of the best experiences in my life and I am very happy. I thank The Sports Gurukul and BOCA Football School, for giving me this opportunity to train with them and I am certain that it would greatly help me to improve my skills and game.”

Jay Shah, co-founder and Director of The Sports Gurukul said, “This is the most exciting news for us. We are very proud that our mission for football has started on a good note. We will be scouting for many more talents like Shane.”

Antonio Lopez Cortes, head coach Boca Football School, Mumbai said: “It was a really tough decision. There are so many young talented children that I have seen and I am really excited to groom these children during my stay in India. I congratulate Shane on this achievement and wish him all the best.”
