The plans for a full fledged India-Pakistan series seems to be moving forward with the PCB interacting with the Indian political establishment to push for a series in UAE in December.

According to NDTV reports, BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya wants India-Pakistan cricket to resume with a bilateral series whose first Test will be held in Kolkata. However, PCB chief Shahryar Khan has been calling for a series in UAE in December and has already met Union I&B Minister Arun Jaitley over the issue.

Jaitley has reportedly asked the two boards to first discuss compensation for broadcasters, before the Indian government considers the proposal. Issues like security concerns would weigh high in calculations for resumption of India-Pakistan cricket ties.

The proposed full fledged series, which will involve three Tests, five ODIs and two T20s, is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two Boards last year.

There is also the issue of certain sections of India's political establishment opposing Indo-Pak cricket.  BJP MP RK Singh raised the issue in Parliament on Monday, saying, "A country which is giving shelters to the terrorists, who have attacked and had carried out bomb blasts against us, what is a point of playing cricket with that country, I don't understand."

On being asked about RK Singh's statement, Shaharyar Khan told NDTV "Many in the Indian government are keen to see this series go on. I am confident it would."

The Indian Board, some of whose office bearers are also members of political parties, wants to see the series go ahead. "Since there are certain matters that need to be addressed and considered, it was decided to take appropriate steps. The two boards would be in regular touch and review the situation," BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said in a statement to NDTV.

Thakur also added that the series may be played in India or a third country, but not Pakistan. "The series between India and Pakistan could be played at the end of the year in December," Thakur told NDTV, which might imply that it takes place in UAE as per the PCB's proposal.
