He might be on an 18-match unbeaten streak as India's Test captain but Virat Kohli on Thursday ignored from the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test team of the year even though he was named skipper of the ODI all-star XI which also featured Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja.
Kohli, England's tormenotor-in-chief in the just concluded five-match Test series, has amassed a staggering 1215 runs in the 12 Tests he has played this year, which include three double-centuries against West Indies, New Zealand and England respectively.
The decision by the ICC didn't go down well with Kohli's fans who took to Twitter to vent their ire.
Here are some of the sharp tweets:
@ICC #ICCAwards lol No Kohli, This Is Unfair

Virat Kohli scored 1215 runs in 2016 still not got place in ICC Test team. This is how people treat a general category student.

No Virat Kohli, and failed captain Alistair Cook as captain? This ICC team can be beaten by a good Ranji team pic.twitter.com/8LhFSLF4j3

Most Test wins in 2016: V Kohli
Most Test loss in 2016: A Cook
But Cook is Captain for ICC Team of the year!
Cook loses record no. of matches; Steyn injured in both series SA played & Voges/Warner part of worst batting line up in Oz history?! Kohli? https://t.co/qTnqJYcyEQ
