Swedish golf ace Henrik Stenson has retained his four-shot lead at East Lake with a one-under par 69 on Saturday after the third round of the season-ending eight million-dollar US PGA Tour Championship.

Stenson can claim the ten million-dollar playoff title FedEx Cup and the tournament's 1.44 million-dollar top prize if he manages to keep his lead over the final 18 holes at East Lake on Sunday.

According to Sport24, although Stenson had a chance to stretch his lead over the rest of the 30-man field on a rainy day, he stumbled at the finish to make bogeys on three of the final five holes, including a four-foot par putt miss at the 18th, which left him on 11-under 199 after 54 holes.

However, Stenson said that he would not play in an aggressive manner on Sunday given that he has kept a continued lead in the event, adding that it is up to the other players to be aggressive.

Meanwhile, world number one Tiger Woods, the playoff points leader, did not move from his 26th position and stayed on 213 after firing a 69, and was one stroke behind US compatriot Matt Kuchar, who was also in the top five in points.

Meanwhile, the report mentioned that Woods' another US compatriot Dustin Johnson was second on 203 after a third-round 67, US veteran Steve Stricker came third on 205 after shooting 68, while reigning US Open champion Justin Rose shared fourth on 206 with Americans Zach Johnson, Billy Horschel and Jordan Spieth.

The report also said that Stenson and Johnson were the only two in the title fight among five players who can win the playoff title by winning the tournament.

Australian Adam Scott, the reigning Masters champion, stumbled to a 74 to stand on 210 after starting the day with fever and chills and receiving IV fluids to treat his flu symptoms, the report added.
