According to an English news channel, Chennai Super Kings team principal Gurunath Meiyappan's voice sample has been confirmed in a tapped conversation. Meiyappan, who is the son in law of N Srinivasan, had been chargesheeted and even spent time in jail last year. But he had refused to depose before the Justice Mukul Mudgal-led probe committee saying the case was sub-judice.

The Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) confirmed that the voices of Meiyappan, Vindoo Dara Singh and other arrested accused in the IPL spot-fixing case are the same as those intercepted voices of the arrested accused. The Mudgal panel will submit to the Supreme Court its final report at the end of this month. Thereafter, the case will be heard on November 10.

Justice Mudgal was appointed to investigate the IPL scandal after an internal probe ordered by the BCCI cleared Meiyappan and Rajasthan Royals owner Raj Kundra of corruption. Accordingly, the committee placed a report on malpractices, including spot-fixing and betting, before the Supreme Court on February 10. Justice Mudgal's report said allegations of betting against Meiyappan stand proven.

Meiyappan was accused of passing information to bookies and placing bets on IPL matches. Chennai Super Kings is owned by Srinivasan, who headed BCCI. Srinivasan, now the President of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has been stood down by the Supreme Court till IPL corruption investigations are over.
