In the inaugural season of Indian Super League (ISL), FC Goa collected just one point from their first four games. The script was similar as they came visiting Mumbai to face the hosts on Friday.

And, courtesy a neat strike from Brazilian midfielder Richarlyson Felisbino, Zico and his boys have come back into reckoning with a 1-0 win over Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena here.

The defeat meant that Mumbai have managed only two points from their last four outings are looking a bit rattled after having a rousing start to this season. Goa, on the other hand, remain at the bottom of the table but now have four points to their name.

The first 20 minutes were drab, although Goa conceded free kicks in uncomfortable positions – four to be exact – but neither Diego Forlan nor Matias Defederico could do justice to the opportunities.

Joffre Gonzalez tried to put Julio Cesar through on goal in the 24th minute but his cross was well cleared by Mumbai defender Aiborlang Khongjee.

The visitors came close to breaking the deadlock in the 35th minute when defender Keenan Almeida, going on the overlap down the right, played a clever one-two with Cesar but pulled his shot a little wide of the far post.

Finally, a defensive lapse helped Goa open the account five minutes from the lemon break as Cesar's well placed free kick from the edge of the box was thumped into the back of the net by a rushing Felisbino. The hosts were busy taking care of the opponents in the box, while Felisbino was left fully unmarked.

Goa should have been ahead by three goals in the opening three minutes of the second half had forward Robin Singh and defender Raju Gaikwad not missed sitters. In the 46th minute, the ball was headed into Robin's path by Cesar but he fluffed his shot with Mumbai custodian Roberto Volpato at mercy.

Two minutes later, Gaikwad failed to put head to Cesar's free kick after being inches away from the goalline.

Forlan and Defederico tried to go for long rangers but FC Goa goalkeeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury was never in a spot of bother as the shots were off target.

Mumbai's Haitian forward Sony Norde skipped past three players to get a sight on goal in the 79th minute but his lethal shot was blocked by Rafael Dumas.

Cesar, who was the star of the evening, could have had a goal against his name but his curling shot in the 88th minute was palmed away by Volpato.
