The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) president Vinod Phadke today participated in the BCCI meeting in Chennai, while his rival faction has been asked to hold on till November.

GCA is currently faction-ridden after the state government warned them of de-recognition for failing to implement recommendations of Justice Pendse Commission.

The government has pointed out that Phadke, who has been indicted by the panel is still at the helm of affairs of this body. The Commission had probed into the infamous 2001 India-Australia match ticket scam.

A faction claiming to have support from the majority of the managing committee members in the cricketing body wants Phadke to be ousted from the post. They had even resolved stripping rights of Phadke to take crucial decisions related to the Association.

Sources in BCCI said that the faction led by Senior Vice-President of (GCA) Dr Shekhar Salkar, who is rival of Phadke, today met senior officials and informed about the latest developments in the GCA, including state government's threat to derecognize the body. The rival faction had demanded that Phadke be debarred from attending the BCCI working committee meeting today.

"But the BCCI officials specifically said that they cannot stop Phadke from attending the meeting at least immediately. The decision on his participation can be taken during the upcoming Annual General Body meeting of BCCI scheduled in November," sources stated.
