Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany won the women's Alpine skiing super combined gold medal at the Winter Olympics on Monday.

Hoefl-Riesch successfully defended her Olympic title after a storming slalom run, clocking a combined time of 2:34.62.

Austria's Nicole Hosp took silver, 0.40 seconds behind, while American Julia Mancuso had to settle for bronze.

Mancuso, who was second to Hoefl-Riesch in Vancouver four years ago, had led the event after the downhill earlier on Monday.
