Bernie Ecclestone has been re-appointed to the Formula One board that runs the commercial aspect of the company, joining ex-Ferrari president Luca Di Montezemolo and businessman Paul Walsh in the board.

Earlier in the year, Ecclestone was forced to resign when he was faced with bribery charges, however, continued in day-to-day control. It has been reportedly learned that Ecclestone paid 60 million pounds to end a case in Germany in the summer without an assumption of guilt or innocence, the BBC reported.

While Ecclestone will continue as chief executive officer of the F1 group, Montezemolo and Walsh will perform the role of non-executive chairmen.

Ecclestone has found himself at the centre of controversies, as he had to battle two separate trials emanating from the bribery case. Two teams have gone out of business and surviving teams made scathing remarks over the split of revenues in sport.
