Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers appointed by Celtic

Brendan Rodgers has been appointed as the manager of Scottish football club Celtic on a 12-month rolling contract.

The 43-year-old, who has previously coached clubs like Liverpool, Swansea and Reading, said that he was absolutely delighted to have been given this responsibility and vowed that he would give everything he could to keep the club at the top, the Guardian reported.

Rodgers will take over the post following the departure of Ronny Deila, who ended his two-year tenure with a 7-0 win over Motherwell on Sunday.

With the new appointment, the Scottish champions will also hope to end an absence from the Champions League group stage dating back to 2013.
