The Sourav Ganguly-BJP saga has taken a new twist with both parties hitting out at each other over the former Indian skipper's 'so called decision' to join the party.
While party National Secretary Siddharth Nath Singh denied rumours of Ganguly joining BJP, the latter on the other hand said that he had 'declined' an offer to join the party. Interestingly Ganguly had reportedly turned down BJP’s offer to contest last year’s general elections, according to a report published in Indian Express.
Ganguly’s could have strengthened party base in West Bengal and could have posed a hurdle to Trinamool Congress. While Ganguly has vehemently denied reports of joining BJP, Nath went on record saying that the party has 'utmost respect' for the cricket legend's decision to refute 'baseless rumours'.
