A busy summer awaits Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, who is expected to bring in some marquee signings with Harry Kane emerging as one of the prime targets for the Red Devils.

Reports emerged that Manchester United are preparing a bid for Tottenham star Harry Kane, who has taken the Premier League by storm this season.

Kane who burst into this season, scoring 30 goals in all competitions for Spurs, would be the perfect signing for United for the upcoming season.

Having already agreed a deal with PSV for Dutch winger Memphis Depay, for a rumoured fee of £25m, United will hope that the Tottenham star will be one of their many expected summer signings.

“I’m not surprised because he’s a big talent, he’s scored 30 goals or more this season so he’s proved himself in the Premier League and at international level, so it’s normal that big clubs want to get him," Kane's Tottenham teammate Nacer Chadli reportedly said of United's rumoured interest.

If reports are to believed then Manchester United are preparing a £45m bid for the young Englishman, which is criticised to be too much for a 21 year old.

Tottenham are reportedly set to offer Harry Kane a new £60,000-a-week deal to prevent him making a £45million transfer to Manchester United. But if Harry Kane does sign on the dotted line for United, he'd be the fourth recruit from North London after Robin Van Persie from Arsenal (2012), Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham (2009) and Michael Carrick from Tottenham (2006).

With Radamel Falcao being unable to find his goal-scoring feet with the Red Devils and Robin Van Persie heading towards the twilight of his career, Harry Kane who recently won the PFA Young Player of the Year Award would be the perfect replacement for the two ageing strikers at Old Trafford.

De Gea set to return to Madrid?

David De Gea who was brought to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid to replace United legend Edwin Van Der Sar between the posts, is set to end his stay at Manchester after reportedly rejecting United's latest contract offer and agreeing personal terms with Real Madrid.

The Spaniard who has been the Player of the Season for Manchester United, probably played his last game at Old Trafford after he limped off the field and applauded the United faithful as he headed for the tunnel.

With one year left on his current United contract, the Red Devils could still cash in on the Spanish goalkeeper, with reports suggesting a swap deal with Gareth Bale heading to Old Trafford.

After a poor showing this season for Real Madrid, the Los Blancos are reportedly set to offload the Welshman with a number of Premier League clubs preparing bids for the former PFA Player of the Year.

"Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool will all want Gareth Bale. So if you are going to give Real a player I think it would make sense to try and get Bale and steal him in return for De Gea," said former United defender Gary Neville.

Neville who has urged United to do everything in their power to keep De Gea at Old Trafford on a long term basis, fears that the Spaniard has already set his mind for an emotional return to his hometown of Madrid.

Although De Gea's departure would be heartbreaking for the United faithful, acquiring Gareth Bale in an exchange deal would be good business for Ed Woodward and Louis Van Gaal.
