Focus on Gill as K-1000 Rally sets Tumkur date

The  39th edition of the IMG K-1000 Rally is all set to be held over the weekend in the mining areas around Tumkur, around 100 km from here.

The spotlight will be on APRC champion Gaurav Gill in the SUV category for Mahindra and Malaysian veteran Karamjit Singh (former APRC champion) competing for Volkswagen Motorsport.
The rally, which has returned to Karnataka after 10 years, has been divided into three stages.
Alpha (14.50 km), Beta (14.55 km) and India Mines (7.32 km). The total distance of the rally is 562.48Km, with the liaison distance being 453.37Km and special stage rally distance of 109.11Km.

Bharat Raj, president of organising club Karnataka Motor Sports Club, said: “The K-1000 is now an iconic calendar event and participating in it always created an aura among the motorsport enthusiasts.”

Rally navigator Sujith retires
BS Sujith Kumar, a veteran rally navigator, who has participated in over 300 rallies  and been the co-driver for Gaurav Gill, Vikram Mathias, Arjun Balu and Lohitt Urs announced his retirement on Tuesday.

Arjun Maini tests F3 car
Arjun Maini has become the youngest Indian to test a Formula 3 car in Italy. The 15-year-old had recently won two out of three races in the FB02 single-seater Formula car race at the Buddh International Circuit in the JK Tyre Racing Championship. He tested with Eurointernational team in Italy.
