Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni struck a blisstering 34-ball 61 to help Rising Pune Supergiant chase down 177 with a last-ball boundary against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium here on Saturday.

Initially, it was Dhoni who created the mess for his team as his slow start of 26 off 23 balls brought his side under immense pressure as an equation of 90 off 55 got converted to 47 off the last three overs.

However, the wicketkeeper-batsman kept his cool and took out Bhuvneshwar Kumar, tournament?s best bowler to begin his onslaught of 35 runs in 11 balls.

Apart from Dhoni, Rahul Tripathi also contributed with a brilliant half century. Tripathi made a quick-fire 41-ball 59 at the top of the order to give Pune a blazing start to their innings.

Dhoni, who had just 61 runs under his belt before this game, was adjudged Man of the Match.

Earlier, the Steve Smith-led side produced a disciplined bowling effort before Moises Henriques enabled Sunrisers Hyderabad to reach a competitive total of 176 for three.

Henriques (55 off 28 balls, six fours and two sixes) helped his team smash 91 off the last seven overs to reach the score, which was par seeing the wicket.
