Name: Samuel Eto'o
Date of Birth: March 10, 1981
Position: Striker
Team: Cameroon
Appearances: 117
Goals: 56
A day before his 16th birthday, Eto'o earned his first cap with Cameroon. A year later, he became the youngest player to feature in the World Cup. Eto'o was aged 17 years and three months when he played against Italy in France. He was part of the Cameroon squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2002. He also tasted success at the Olympics, winning the gold medal in Sydney 2000. Eto'o captained Cameroon at the 2010 World Cup but the Lions bowed out early. He is the country's all-time top-scorer with 56 goals but knows this World Cup is likely to be his last. If Cameroon are to survive Group A — comprising hosts Brazil, Croatia and Mexico — then they'll need their captain to fire on all cylinders.
