Mohammed Shami's wife Hasin Jahan's attire irked bigots on social media.
It seems bigots come in all shapes and sizes. And recently, it was cricketer Mohammed Shami and his beautiful wife Hasin Jahan who came in for some vile comments on Facebook. An image of Hasin Jahan dressed in a sleeveless outfit attracted the ire of bigoted users who feel that somehow they have the right to decide what a woman should or shouldn’t wear. The comments would make your skin crawl. Sample these:
BHai me a bhat aap se yehi kahunga aap apne bibi ko Islami tarike par rakho sami bhai allah ke liye
(I will tell you one thing brother, keep your wife under Islamic traditions for Allah)
Apki wife ka itan bada gala pehni hain, aapko sharam nahin ayi,
(You wife is wearing such a revealing dress, aren’t you ashamed?)
Sami tum muslim ho achhi tarah jante ho ki orot ko kaise rakha jata hai yah sobha nahi deta
(You are a Muslim and you know very well that how women should be kept. This kind of dressing won’t do)
It seems like the simple fact, that a what a woman chooses to wear, isn’t anyone’s business, is a concept too hard to fathom for these self-proclaimed social media warriors. In fact Shami and his wife found support from users. One of them wrote: “Bhai ye India hi h na??? Middle east k soch waale idiot yahaan kya kr rae?? Any1 who is having problem with mohd Shami or his family ....plz leave the country...there is high demand of ppl like u in middle east !!!

Ye sare Muslims jo shami ko ghyan bat rahe hai agar unme waqai Allah ka darr hai to mobile par net use Karna chod de q k parda na karne par ise jo gunah hoga usse bada gunah aap jahilo ko Islam ka mazak banane par hoga...
(All the Muslims who are giving wisdom to Shami, should stop using the internet on their mobile phones if they truly fear Allah. You are committing a greater sin by making Islam a joke).
The Shamis also found support from former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif who wrote on Twitter:” The comments are really really Shameful. Support Mohammed Shami fully. There are much bigger issues in this country. Hope sense prevails.”
