Age is not a factor for veteran Australian spinner Brad Hogg as he is set to sign a new contract in the Indian Premier League (IPL) despite turning 44 next week.

Hogg, who would celebrate his 44th birthday next Friday, revealed after Wednesday night's Big Bash final that he was set to return to the lucrative IPL this year with a new team, the Kolkata Knight Riders.

If Hogg signs, the Knight Riders would represent the spinner's ninth Twenty20 domestic team across seven different countries. Hogg said that he was talking to Trevor Bayliss at the Kolkata Knight Riders, adding that they are 'looking to get him over there, News.com.au reported.

Hogg said that 'hopefully he gets another season or two' in the Big Bash in Australia with the Perth Scorchers and added that there's 'no reason at all to retire'.

Hogg's T20 resume is incredible indeed. He has represented the Antigua Hawksbills, Rajasthan Royals, Sylhet Royals, Wyamba United, Warwickshire, Cape Cobras, Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers. Hogg has also taken seven wickets at T20 international level.

Hogg's 40 wickets in the BBL are the second-highest in tournament history behind only Ben Laughlin and his economy rate is lower than any other bowler among the league's top 45 wicket takers. In light of playing with the Scorchers, Hogg claimed that it's basically that if he is fit he would 'put his name forward to go around again', adding that he has been 'really enjoying it all' so he doesn't have 'any thoughts about retiring'.

He also said that if he plays in the IPL that takes him through to the end of May and then it's June, July, August and September so that's four months off to train with the Scorchers.

Hogg added that if he plays in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), that would be a 'bonus' and he claims that he doesn't have 'any problem playing club cricket because that has helped him'.
