England legend Ian Botham has labeled the 'childish, petty squabbling' over Kevin Pietersen's autobiography as 'kids stuff' and feels embarrassed about the way it has panned out.

Botham has asked English cricketers to stop the 'blame game' and requested them to do Pietersen a favour and grow up.

Botham said that playing cricket for the country is the very pinnacle of professional sport and added that the ongoing saga looked amateur to say the least, The Mirror reported.

The former England captain said that though Pietersen's decision to air his grievances was a personal choice, still the ongoing spat looked like an attempt by Pietersen to get one back at the ECB.

Botham, who admitted that he had not yet read Pietersen's book, added that he has spoken at length with people concerned and has tried to calm down the issue.

Botham said that he is thoroughly unimpressed at what has come spilling out of the England dressing room and labeled it as 'unprofessional'.

The veteran feels that cricket dressing rooms can be harsh places, and also said that though they can trip one up at any moment, they can also be the sanctum for the best days of our lives.

Botham felt that player banter in cricket is part of the job, and said that being a professional cricketer is the best job a man could ever have.

Botham also lamented at the fact that cricket had been put on the backburner thanks to the ongoing saga.
