It's public knowledge that Eden Hazard smashed a hat-trick for French football club Lille during his farewell match in 2012, following which he left for English giants Chelsea. However, what isn't common knowledge is the fact that during that game, Hazard was himself smashed!

The Belgian midfielder's former teammate Rio Mavuba made this revelation during an interview with French TV show Le Vestiaire recently. Mavuba spoke about how Hazard joined a host of his Lille teammates for a night of revelry before they played the final match of their season, back in 2012.

"The night before games we usually did nothing, but were certain to finish third. We were playing against Nancy the next day, and it was Hazard's last game, so he prepared something small," the 32-year-old said, as quoted by the Metro on. "In the morning, the coach (Rudi Garcia) went in Hazard's room and he hasn't been sleeping."

The 25-year-old Chelsea star, though, went on to emulate the great West Indian cricket team of the 1960s and 70s and didn't let inebriation get in the way of performance on the field. He scored a first-half hat-trick in that match!

Hazard was given an emotional standing ovation when he was taken off in the 89th minute, which must have made his heart heavy, along with his head.
