Sunday is Diwali and Saturday, the fans watching the India-Australia series were in for fireworks early as Team India slammed a huge 386 batting first in the series decider.

Rohit Sharma was the man of the moment as he joined Virender Sehwag who scored 219 and Sachin Tendulkar who made 200 not out with his belter of a 209 that took just 158 balls.

Sharma hit 16 sixes and 12 fours in his brilliant knock as he solidified his place as Indian opener. Shikhar Dhawan and MS Dhoni helped the cause with their handy runs.

Rohit Sharma hit the most sixes in an ODI with a total of 16 which was one more than Shane Watson's against Bangladesh.

The 26-year-old seemed to be repaying selectors for the faith they showed in him by selecting him in the team that will play Sachin Tendulkar's final Test series against West Indies that will happen later this month.

The series so far has seen huge targets set and being chased down with ease, but 386 seems like a big score.

Fans took to Twitter comparing Rohit Sharma to crackers and fireworks this Diwali after his knock came just a day prior to the festival of lights that is celebrated with fireworks.

Here are some interesting reactions from the social networking site:

If India win the match they win the series as they are already ensured of being No1 in ODIs after two matches in this series were washed away.
