Davis Cup: Rains stop in Chandigarh to kickstart match beween India and South Korea

Rains have mercy on Friday on Davis Cup that is going to kick-start in humid Chandigarh with the Indian side facing South Korea.

It had been continuously raining in the city for the last few days till Thursday morning, leaving the tennis grass courts of Chandigarh Club, where Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group-I is going to take place starting Friday, wet. 

According to Hindustan Times, the rains have finally stopped, paving way for the Sun to suck the moisture away, leaving a breeze in the very humid city. Not completely dry grounds yet, Rohan Bapanna made a face when his ball didn't bound back as he expected it too. He hoped that the ground will be dry enough on Saturday when he has a match.

Despite a delay in the opening ceremony, the grass expert team from Kolkata did a decent job to get the courts ready for the first singles between India's Ramkumar Ramanathan and South Korea's Seong-Chan Hong that began at 10.20 am. 

In comparison to the grounds of Wimbledon where the grass has less moisture and is straighter, Chandigarh's grass blades are likely to lay parallel, leaving the game to the players who have a better control on the net. 

Both Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni are used to participating in tournaments abroad, which will make it tougher for them to concentrate in the noisy Chandigarh as drums were being played in the stands.
