Goalkeeper David de Gea has bagged Manchester United's Player of the Year award for the third consecutive time.

The Spaniard, who joins Cristiano Ronaldo as the only United player to achieve the award three times, has become the only footballer to pick up the coveted prize for three seasons in a row.

Jubilant with his feat, De Gea admitted that it was a huge honour for him, adding that he would now try to guide his side to the FA Cup glory.

"It is difficult for me to say anything; winning this trophy three years in a row is amazing. I am really happy, it's an honour to receive this and I want to thank the fans, who are the best in the world," the goalkeeper was quoted as saying by goal.com.

De Gea produced a stellar performance in his side's inconsistent season, keeping 14 clean sheets in the 32 league matches he has played so far.

Meanwhile, Chris Smalling has been awarded United's Players' Player of the Year award.
