After a successful first season that ended in July, the Premier Futsal promises to go bigger in the second edition.

In a round-table meet here on Tuesday, the organisers announced that the next edition of the league will take place in the first quarter of 2017. Not just that, the organisers have decided to increase the number of teams from six to eight.

But there is some interesting news for football lovers. That England superstar David Beckham and Brazil's Kaka could join the legends Ronaldinho, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Michel Salgado, Falcao and Hernan Crespo as marquee players.

"Beckham and Kaka are interested to play. It is not because of the money that they are coming for. It's about our vision which they are interested in. We can't just bring them with money," said Premier Futsal co-founder and managing director Dinesh Raj.

Revealing the plans about the tourney, chief executive officer Abhinandan Balasubramanian said: "Most of the marquee players from first season will return. However, it will also depend if someone gets a managerial role. This season, we will be making a few changes to the rules to make the game even faster. We are already in talks with multiple international Futsal federations and several Futsal clubs to reach out to a wider audience globally and consolidate our position as market leaders."

The tournament's chairman Xavier Britto also announced that Premier Futsal is going to be a bi-annual property. "We managed to get the biggest marquee players to our country for Premier Futsal and the fans in the stadium and those watching it on TV thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We are confident about what we are doing and therefore have decided to make Premier Futsal a bi-annual property," he said.

The organisers said that they would also be holding an auction in the next one month.

It was also announced that the tournament will now be expanded to four cities from two – Chennai and Goa – that hosted the first edition. The new venues will be Kochi, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mumbai.
