Darren Lehmann laying foundation for future Australia WC dominance

Australia cricket team coach Darren Lehmann has claimed that the current crop of players would gain experience from this Cricket World Cup and enter the next one with better preparations.

Lehmann, who hit the winning runs in the 1999 World Cup and took the final catch in the triumph of 2003, claimed that there are seven weeks that might never happen again and added that it certainly won't happen again in the players' career to play in their own country.

Like in Lehmann's own era, Australia has once again assembled the best squad in one-day cricket and expects to take home the trophy on March 29 at the MCG, but most of the squad contains young players with only a couple of players who've played in previous World Cups, News.com.au reported.

Lehmann claimed that from his point of view it's really important they enjoy it and enjoy the success in each game, adding that he personally didn't play very well at the 1999 World Cup, but insisted that it shouldn't matter the result, one should enjoy the World Cup for what it's.

The coach said that they have got to make sure that the players understand that it's special and it's different, adding that they have only got a couple of players who have played in previous World Cups, that's all they have got left.

So, Lehmann added that hopefully this group, that has nine of the 15 players in their 20s, goes to the next World Cup as well and they're better prepared.
