Cristiano Ronaldo has a Galaxy named after him!

Cristiano Ronaldo fans have just got another topic to debate on. Apart from the Balon d'or he has won and the Golden Boot to his name, a new new thing has been added to his resume. The star now has an entire Galaxy named after him.

A newly discovered galaxy has been named 'CR7' in tribute to the Real Madrid player by the European Southern Observatory (ESO).

COSMOS Redshift 7, whose abbrievated form comes to 'CR7', was discovered by a team from the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences, the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon in Portugal. Ronaldo is known as 'CR7' because of the initials of his name and the jersey number he wears, 7. 

As the discovery was lead by a Portuguese institution, the were more than grateful to name it in honour of their super-star, Cristiano Ronaldo.

To add to this, CR7 is an exceptionally rare object and by far the brightest galaxy ever observed in the Universe, three times brighter than the brightest distant galaxy known up to now.

Seems like Ronaldo did live up to the expectation of being a 'Galactico'!
