Portuguese star forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded the Golden Shoe award to add another trophy to his impressive haul.

The Real Madrid superstar shared the award with Barcelona's Luis Suarez after scoring an outstanding 31 times for the La Liga club last season.

Suarez was presented with the award by his former Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish last month and now Ronaldo has followed suit, Sport24 reported.

It is the third time that Ronaldo has claimed the prize, presented to the leading league goal scorer in Europe's top divisions, having previously won in 2008 and 2011.

The striker was given the golden boot by Real president Florentino Perez the Melia Castilla Hotel, having helped his side to a 1-0 win over Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Remarkably that was the first competitive game Ronaldo hasn't scored in this season for the Spanish giants, having already bagged 22 since August. His solo strike against Granada on Saturday took his league tally to 17 in just nine games and should he continue at this current rate, Ronaldo could surpass the 70 mark this season.

The award comes having clinched the La Liga Player of the Year gong last week, with the Ballon d'Or almost certain to follow in the New Year, the report added.
