Cricketing fraternity pay tributes on Twitter to late Australian batsman Phil Hughes

As Phillip Hughes' farewell ceremony got underway, many from the cricketing fraternity took to Twitter to extend their eulogy to the late cricketer, who passed away after being hit on the head by a bouncer during a Sheffield Shield match.

Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar tweeted that Hughes' 'enthusiasm to learn' and 'drive for perfection was most impressive', adding that he would 'miss him'. Former Australian spinner Shane Warne tweeted that it is 'a tough day' as lot of tears would be shed talking about the late Hughes.

ICC stated that as thousands walk through the streets of Macksville, millions around the world stop to remember Hughes. Phillip Hughes is forever unconquered on 63, added James Sutherland, CEO of Cricket Australia. British journalist Piers Morgan praised Michael Clarke's address as 'courageous, inspiring and deeply emotional', adding that he is 'feeling his pain and sharing his tears'.

Hughes succumbed to injuries he endured when he was hit by a bouncer at the SCG. The 25-year-old South Australian batsman, who was pushing for a Test recall against India in Brisbane next week, was knocked out after the ball made impact under his helmet, behind his left ear.
