Pakistan beat world champions the West Indies by three runs in the second Twenty20 international at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad on Thursday to take a 2-0 lead in the four-game series.

Pakistan, who won the first match by six wickets in Barbados, were dismissed for 132 as spinners Sunil Narine and Samuel Badree combined effectively to give the West Indies an excellent chance of levelling the series.

But Pakistan defended their second-lowest T20 total with Shadab Khan taking four for 14 as West Indies made 129 for eight.

"Getting Samuels was important for us to have a chance of winning," said Shadab after collecting his second straight Man of the Match award.

"This pitch had more bounce and encouragement than in Barbados so I am really looking forward to the final two matches."

Pakistani batsman Ahmad Shehzad had to be rushed to the hospital after he collided with West Indies batsman Chadwick Walton in the fourth over of the host's innings.

Marlon Samuels had sent Sohail Tanvir's delivery towards point and he rushed for a single. Shehzad went for the ball and in an attempt to get Walton run out, he collided with the batsman and ended up on the field, writhing in pain.
