Cricket bookie killed by debtor in Ghaziabad

With the arrest of two persons, police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the murder case of a 26-year-old man who was reportedly a cricket bookie.

Acting on a tip-off, Kavi Nagar police arrested Monu and Prem from Lal Quan area near IMS college in connection with the murder of Kaley, whose body, bearing multiple stab wounds, was found on March 18 behind postal training college in Sanjay Nagar area, Deputy SP Ran Vijay Singh said.

After sustained interrogation the duo confessed to the Dharmendra alias Kaley's murder and they claimed that the deceased was a cricket bookie.

The accused claimed that their friend, Raju, had lost Rs 1.5 lakhs to Kaley and he was not in a position to repay him the amount so he paid a monthly interest of 10 per cent to him, police said.

Frustrated by his indebtedness and the hefty interest amount, Raju in connivance with Prem, Monu and Kuldeep conspired to kill Kaley.

The four accused called Kaley on his mobile phone and lured him to Sihani Chungi. They drank alcohol together at a nearby liquor shop and then proceeded towards the postal college where they stabbed him, police said.

One .315 bore country-made pistol, two live cartridges and two knives were also recovered from the accused, police said. Two other accused, Kuldeep and Raju, are still at large, police said, adding, a manhunt has been launched and they will be nabbed soon.
