Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance has launched the selection process for its annual Junior Football Camp for the fifth consecutive year. This year, one talented teenager from the West Zone comprising cities like Mumbai, Pune and Goa will participate in the international football camp to be held in Munich in August.
Besides, cash awards worth Rs75,000 will be given to the winning team in the Zonal Finale. This is also a chance for the chosen youngsters to meet Bayern Munich stars like Thomas Mueller, Bastian Schweinsteiger among others.
As a part of Bajaj Allianz's commitment to nurturing football talent, two youngsters will also receive training scholarships from the Peninsula Pune FC Academy on their return from Munich.
This activity will target over 1,500 kids across 50 schools and football clubs in the city. In addition, Bajaj Allianz is also conducting the selection process in Pune, Goa, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jalandhar, Delhi, Kerala, Lucknow, Bangalore, Kolkata and other states in the North East. This will target more than 40,000 youngsters in July and August.
The selection process in Mumbai will be conducted in association with Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA).
Ranjit Mishra, Regional Head Mumbai, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance, said: "Bajaj Allianz Junior Football Camp aims to bolster the young upcoming talent in football in India. This platform provides the talented kids with an opportunity to visit Munich and train under the coaches from FC Bayern Munich."
Chirag Tanna, Head Operations, Pune FC, said this was a platform to develop talent in th sport.
The selection process will be conducted in three phases. At the school level, two or three best from each school will be selected from over 50 city schools. Open trials will also be held for those not covered in the school trials.
About 100 shortlisted children will participate in the city finale after which the best 15 will be selected to play in the zonal finale.
In the zonal finale, teams from Mumbai, Pune and Goa will play with one best from the zone joining four others from the other zones for the Munich camp.
