East Bengal virtually sealed their record seventh successive Calcutta Football League Premier Division title with a 1-0 win over Mohammedan Sporting here today.

The red-and-gold brigade's Korean forward Do Dong-hyun scored the match-winning goal from the spot kick in the 72nd minute after James brought down Lalrindika Ralte in the box. Dong-hyun made no mistake to score the goal as the anxious fans went up for celebration.

Mohammedan pressed hard but could not break East Bengal's defence. East Bengal now lead the pack with a perfect record of 24 points from eight matches, excluding the result of the Mohun Bagan. The win meant East Bengal are virtually champions with a match to spare but they will have to wait till their last match against Aryan Club on September 18 as a decision on the walkover against Mohun Bagan who did not show up in the last round match on September 7 has been postponed till September 20.
