Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki, who had vowed to run Sunday's New York City Marathon, a few weeks after being dumped by fiance Rory McIlroy, has admitted that she is nervous, but is also excited for the long run.

Wozniacki had vowed just a week before Wimbledon and a few weeks after being dumped by world number one golfer McIlroy that she would run the New York City Marathon.

Sitting outside the top 15 when she started logging four-to-six miles daily, her newfound endurance has her playing some of the best tennis of her career, and she's already raised over 50,000 dollars for charity, New York Times reported.

The Dane said that she is a little nervous, adding that this is the farthest she is going to run so far. She said that it's going to be an unbelievable experience, adding that she loves New York and the New York City Marathon has always been on her bucket list.

She said that she is obviously a little nervous, and added that she is probably not going to get much sleep the night before. She added that it has definitely helped her a lot.

Wozniacki said that once one starts running one really gets hooked and wants to just keep going. She said that it's definitely helped her form, adding that she knows once she gets out in three sets she can just keep going. Wozniacki also said that running has helped her mentally as well, adding that it clears ones head and just makes one feel good.

Wozniacki is currently ranked world number eight and is 34-10 since her marathon decision, including reaching the finals of the U.S. Open last month and the semifinals of the WTA Finals last week in Singapore.
