The year 2010 was a landmark one for Wesley Sneijder. The Dutchman won an unprecedented treble with Inter Milan and followed it up with commendable performances at the World Cup in South Africa. No player had won more Man of the Match awards at the tournament than him. The playmaker was adjudged the best in four of The Netherlands' seven matches. The Silver Ball and Bronze Boot reflected his status as the tournament's second-best player and third-highest scorer. But the main prize eluded him as his side suffered heartbreak 0-1 loss in extra-time to Spain.
