Bishops High School emerge champions

Debutants Bishops High School signed off their first champion on high winning the Kohinoor Karandhik inter-school cricket championship, beating NVM by eight wickets in the final which concluded at the Law College ground, here on Wednesday.

After taking 50 runs first innings lead, the Atul Gaikwad coached side bundled out their opponents for for 178 in their second essay and cruised passed the target in the 29th over with eight wickets in hand.
In the two-day 40 overs each innings encounter, NVM put on 151 in their first innings while Bishops replied with 201, mustering a lead of 50 runs.

It was opener Abhishek Tate along with middle-order Darshit Lunkad were the main contributors with 66 and 61 runs respectively.

Later, Chaitanya Bafna wrecked the NVM batting line up with a four-wicket haul in his 6.2 overs spell as NVM were restricted to 178, setting them 129 target to win.

Bishop's did not have a good beginning as they lost their opener Abhishek Tate in the very first over. However, Aditya Jadhav (60) and an unbeaten 46 by Kushal Tambe saw them cruise past the target with eight wickets intact.
