BCCI President Shashank Manohar may have few days left at the helm of affairs of the cricket body.
According to media reports, Manohar is likely to step down from the post of BCCI President soon, and Sharad Pawar may emerge as a consensus candidate in case that happens.
There is pandemonium in the BCCI over the Supreme Court's insistence on the implementation of the Justice Lodha Committee report. It is said that nobody in the cricket body is clear about what the new organisational structure would entail. Many office bearers fear losing their power when the new structure is put in place.
Apparently, the clamour is growing for Manohar to step down from the post of BCCI chief and instead become the ICC chairman. According to new rules passed during the tenure of Manohar himself, no individual can hold an important post at the ICC while simultaneously be the Board President. The ICC election is due in May.
The BCCI had recently appointed an outsider, a career media executive - Rahul Johri - as its CEO.
