For the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) members, Supreme Court orders are hardly a matter for discussion. The real motive they have is “how to get a lion’s share of money from BCCI coffers” and that’s exactly what they aimed to do when they all met after a gap of nine months in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Having been mandated by the apex court's orders that they will have to function under the Committee of Administrators (COA), three BCCI office-bearers — CK Khanna, Amitabh Chaudhary and Aniruddh Chaudhary — showed no respect for the direction. DNA has reliably information from insiders that BCCI’s CEO Rahul Johri was completely sidelined during the two-hour long meeting.

In fact, the special general meeting (SGM) itself started off on a wrong note after disqualified members from at least three states — Odisha, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh — were allowed to participate. If disqualified Jharkhand secretary Rajesh Verma (Bobby) was allowed inside, then current Indian Premier League chairman Rajiv Shukla was also in attendance as a representative from UP. Odisha also chose to ignore SC orders by sending Asirbad Behera, who is more than 70 years old.

Even the Bihar Cricket Association, which is facing a probe for not giving accounts of Rs 50 lakh, was represented by Gopal Bohra, though he was seen sitting outside the meeting room and was not allowed to participate in the SGM.

So much so, that during the two-hour long meeting, the only agenda of interest for everyone was “how to get BCCI grants released for states from the COA”. DNA has learned that BCCI members did not spare “a single minute for their main agenda of implementing the SC's orders”. Rather they had time to discuss subjects like “doubling the incentive (from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore) of players for victory against Australia”.
