Almost on each and every day of the year something or the other is written or spoken about the rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Reports always suggest that the two great footballers don't share cordial relation amongst themselves. It's true that the extraordinary sports persons are not the best of friends off the field, but recently something happened which shows that there are a lot of things beyond winning Ballon d'Ors and scoring chunks of goals every year.

The Portugal international recently informed the reporters about the incident where he helped out his Argentine rival with language issues and now expects to be paid for that. Actually during the latest Ballon d'Or ceremony at Zurich, where Messi won an unprecedented fifth 'World Player of the Year' award, the Real Madrid star assisted Messi, albeit off the pitch, in the pre-ceremony press conference. "When we were up there on the stage neither Messi nor Neymar speaks English, and I was their translator," Ronaldo was quoted as saying by Goal.com. "I spoke with them later and told them not to forget to pay me later for the translation!"

Cristiano Ronaldo affirmed that he now enjoys a better relationship with the Barcelona starlet. "We have become closer, we have always enjoyed a good relationship but perhaps in the last few years it has become a little closer," he told reporters at the Bernabeu.

The sight of Ronaldo and Messi going head to head against each other may be a treat to the eyes of their respective fans, but this incident at the Ballon d'Or ceremony is surely going to ease the tension between the groups.

Incidentally the Portuguess had a lot of kind words to say for Messi in his film titled 'Ronaldo'. "This rivalry between Messi and me, has been made up by the press. My relationship with him is very good," Ronaldo said. "We had quite a good conversation about ourselves. He had asked me about my injuries, my family."

"I don't see him as a rival. I see him as a person who makes me a better player and I make him a better player. And we are always busting our balls to see who is better," Ronaldo added.

Greatest rivalries in the world are built on respect for each other and Ronaldo-Messi case is nothing different.
