Badminton: HS Prannoy makes light of opponents, breezes past Aditya Prakash

Top seed HS Prannoy breezed past Aditya Prakash 21-16 21-14 in the men's singles to confirm his spot in the quarterfinals of the Tata Open India International Championship 2014 at the CCI badminton courts, Churchgate, on Thursday. Earlier in the day, Prannoy defeated Oscar Bansal 21-7, 21-5 in the Round of 32. He will play against eighth seed Subhankar Dey in the quarterfinal on Friday.
 
In the women's singles, top seed PC Thulasi advanced to the quarterfinal by defeating Croatia's Dorotea Sutara 21-15 21-13 in a match that lasted for more than 30 minutes.

Former national champion Chetan Anand defeated Gaurav Venkat 21-12, 21-10 in Round of 16 to move to the quarter finals after he beat Amey Joshi 21-8 21-16 in Round of 32.

Third seed B Sai Praneeth registered an easy victory over Deepak Khatri 21-10 21-13 in the Round of 16 before beating Harsheel Dani 16-21 21-17 21-10 to confirm his place in the quarterfinals

The most entertaining match of the day however, the one between upcoming shuttler Kaushal Dharmamer and Sameer Verma. Dharmamer lost the first set 21-11, but came back strongly in the second, winning 21-12. Dharmamer failed to keep the momentum going and succumbed to the pressure, losing 17-21.
