101-year-old NRI in New Zealand, Man Kaur won 100 metres sprint at the World Masters Games in Auckland on Monday. This win takes her tally of gold medals to 17.

According to a report by AFP, Kaur finished the race in one minute 14 seconds. This is 64.42 seconds behind Usain Bolt's 100m world record set in 2009.

Kaur was guaranteed a victory as she was the only participant in the 100-years-and-over category at the event. Kaur was very happy after her win and said that she is not giving up the sport anytime soon. "I'm going to run again, I'm not going to give up. I will participate, there's no full stop," Kaur was quoted telling to the reporters at the event.

Eight years ago, when she was 93, Kaur's son Gurdev Singh came up with the suggestion that she start participating in the international masters games circuit. Kaur then cleared the medical check-ups and since then the mother-son duo has been taking part in athletics meets around the world, reports the news site.

Kaur's strict diet includes wheat grass juice and a glass of kefir (fermented milk) every day. Apart from 100m sprint, she will also participate in the 200m sprint, two kg shot put, and 400-gram javelin, taking her medal tally to 20!

"Man Kaur truly personifies the 'sport for all' philosophy which World Masters Games is all about and we are thrilled to have her here," World Masters Games 2017 chief executive Jennah Wootten told AFP.

"I have no doubt that she and many of the other 24,905 athletes competing in these games are inspiring others to lead more active lifestyles and take up a sport."
