Ravichandran Ashwin breaks his silence on the issue of 'spin friendly' Indian pitches, which was a matter of concern for Harbhajan Singh.

India's premier spin weapon Ravichandran Ashwin decided to blame the media for inciting a possible war of words between senior statesman Harbhajan Singh and himself over the issues surrounding the Indian pitches.
Incidentally, since the start of the New Zealand Test series, Bhajji has been voicing his displeasure about the wickets, terming those as 'spin friendly'. A Bengali daily even quoted him saying that during his days with the Indian team, the pitches didn't assist spin bowling to the extent that it does nowadays.
On the other hand, Ashwin had clearly said in a mid-series press conference that neither skipper Virat Kohli nor coach Anil Kumble rolls or waters the tracks. "It's unfortunate that people don't understand this. We should be allowed to enjoy our brand of cricket. Nobody is bothered when England wins a Test in two days. So what's the problem if the same happens in India?" he had questioned.
Incidentally, just before the start of the last Test at Indore, BCCI's Twiter handle had posted a picture of the Holkar wicket and the Punjab veteran was quick to jump to a conclusion. "Already looks like 2 days old pitch before the 1st bowl is bowled..my predictions match won't go more then 3 and half days..," Harbhajan's had tweeted.

It was after this incident that the Turbanator was roundly criticised on social media platforms and Ashwin took to twitter to broker piece. "@harbhajan_singh has been an inspiration nd I started bowling off spin only after seeing the 2001 series. This banter going on is unhealthy," he tweeted.

"By pitting players against each other we aren't going to gain anything but just a juicy headline.Lets respect ppl and keep the game healthy," he added.

Then it was Harbhajan's time to criticise the media by saying his comments were misconstrued. "Dear got nothing against you. For some reasons my words are misconstrued. Wish you nothing but the best Keep the flag high! God bless @harbhajan_singh has been an inspiration nd I started bowling off spin only after seeing the 2001 series. This banter going on is unhealthy," he tweeted.

Well, Ashwin should be credited for showing utmost composure and sportsmanship in this case. The world's best Test bowler has effectively managed to calm the situation just at the right time. As they say, 'That's what the doctor had ordered'.
