Saturday is an important day for the Board of Control for Cricket in India as a Special General Meeting (SGM) has been called to collectively agree upon disagreeing on the Supreme Court-ordered reforms.

One may say that this is the last chance for BCCI president Anurag Thakur to avoid annoying the Apex court as he has been ordered to file a personal affidavit regarding "did he discuss in an ICC meeting that Lodha panel recommendations amounted to government interference?"

This was reportedly claimed by ICC CEO Dave Richardson in his media interactions.

But, given the mood in the BCCI camp, everyone is ready to face "contempt of court charges rather than leaving their 'office of profit' so easily".

DNA has reliably learnt that Thakur has apparently been assuring all the state bodies that "all will be fine soon and nothing will happen as Sports Bill is going to be introduced in the coming winter session of the Parliament".

It is another matter that no such bill has been listed by the central government as yet.

Keeping in mind BCCI's recent threats regarding calling off India-New Zealand series or even cancelling the ongoing Ranji Trophy matches, several state units are skeptical about Thakur's latest assurance.

"I would rather go down fighting than losing my post," said the head of one of the Northern state. When asked what would happen if contempt proceedings are initiated against the states or any individual, the answer was simple and straight: "I've been assured that renowned lawyers will be engaged to take care of any such issue. I'm not alone and I hope I will not be alone."

If top sources are to be believed, then in the recent ICC meeting held in Cape Town in South Africa also, Thakur reportedly threatened to pull out of the world events by not adhering to Future Tour Programme (FTP).

"BCCI boss was like 'all thunder and no rain'," was how the official termed his threat. It is important to mention here that Thakur was made chief of ICC's Development Committee, a smart move by ICC to make him fall in line.

This is the reason that even though SGM outcome will be known only towards Saturday evening, the BCCI legal team has apparently been busy in finalising the finer contents of Thakur's affidavit.
"We are ready to accept the 'One State One Vote' clause provided the voter base is increased by retaining all the earlier voters. Let Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar have voting rights, but Maharashtra and Gujarat should be allowed to keep their bunch of votes," another BCCI state unit chief from West said.

The same agreement is also on the age bar where most of the members are much below the age of 70. But the question of adhering to three-year cooling off period after a three-year term is something on which every state official is ready to confront the court. "This is like committing suicide," said the official, adding: "Come what may, we're all together on this issue."
