Former India skipper and current chief coach Anil Kumble in all probability is going to be elevated to the post of team director, a position that was lying vacant ever since it was vacated by Ravi Shastri.

DNA has learnt that Supreme Court-appointed committee of administrators (COA) has been contemplating a reshuffle in the coaching set-up in the coming weeks and a similar structure like that of England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is in the offing.

The sources have indicated that the ongoing series against Australia could well be the last as head coach for Kumble as discussions are nearly in final stages where former India leggie would be entrusted with his new assignment by April 14.

COA has apparently entrusted Kumble with a job to file a comprehensive roadmap for the seniors, India A, juniors as well as women’s teams.

It is more or less similar to that of which he along with Rahul Dravid put forth last year.

The COA seems to have given Kumble time to decide on the offer.

COA is also keen to have bigger role for cricket advisory committee, consisting of Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly.

This would mean that MV Sridhar, the current general manager cricket operations, would have either limited or no say in his role in the times to come.

The talks of Rahul Dravid taking over the role of chief coach for now may be a bit too early but Board of Control for Cricket in India  is keen to have him in mind.
