It turned out to be a drab draw, but the biggest beneficiary from the first 'Test' match between India 'A' and Australia 'A' in Chennai was Amit Mishra.

The leg-spinner, who was recalled to the Test squad for the tour of Sri Lanka, got some valuable overs under his belt to stake a claim in the playing XI in the island nation. Mishra picked up two wickets on the fourth day on Saturday, and in all bowled 37.3 overs in the match, picking up five wickets.

For the record, chasing a target of 240, Australia 'A' reached 161/4 in 46 overs when both captains decided to call it off.

While Mishra got some match practice, left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha did enough to be knocking on the doors of national selection again. Bowling with his remodelled action, Ojha returned a match-haul of 6/132 (5/87 in the first innings and 1/45 in the second).

Earlier on Saturday, India 'A' declared their first innings at 206/8, resuming from their overnight score of 121/3.

India batted for 32.3 overs as young Shreyas Iyer chipped in with 33, while Karun Nair could only manage 23.

Pacer Gurinder Sandhu (2/27) and part-time seamer Marcus Stoinis (2/17) were the most successful bowlers for Australia 'A' while left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe took his match-haul to eight wickets with 2/81 in the second innings.

The next match, starting July 29, will feature Test captain Virat Kohli, who had requested the national selectors to allow him to play.
