The Mumbai Cricket Associaton (MCA), which was supposed to appoint Mumbai's new coach on Monday, deferred it by a week after interviewing six candidates.

Former Test cricketer Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Paras Mhambrey, Sairaj Bahutule, Praveen Amre, Sandeep Dahad and Rahul Mankad were interviewed by the MCA's managing committee. However, the recently-retired Ajit Agarkar, who was approached by the MCA for the coaching job earlier, failed to appear for the interview.

"We will interview Agarkar next week since he had prior commitments," said MCA vice president Ravi Sawant.

However, it is understood that former Test cricketer Agarkar is not happy with the whole interview set up. "First you approach him for the coaching job and then you tell him to appear for an interview. It does not work that way," said an insider from MCA.
