In what could be termed a battle of equals, Air India and Sporting Clube de Goa face off in the 14th round of the I-League at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, near here, on Saturday.

Both teams have 11 points from as many matches (two matches postponed), but a better goal difference means Air India are ahead. In their last five encounters, both sides have registered two wins and a draw each.

The only advantage the Goans enjoy is that they come into this match with a 3-1 win over Prayag United SC. For the record, Air India had lost 0-4 to Salgaocar FC.

“It is good to be ahead (of our opponents), but it is this that counts,” said Anthony Fernandes, the interim coach of Air India.

Both sides are likely to field a more or less unchanged XI. The Goan outfit, though, is expected to field Dawson Fernandes.
